A noun is a word that names something.
It can name a person → mother, pilot, Fatima
It can name a place → garden, city, Multan
It can name an animal → cat, parrot, dolphin
It can name a thing → pencil, cloud, bicycle
It can name a feeling or idea → joy, courage, truth
Quick test: Can you name it? Can you point to it or feel it? If yes, it is a noun.
