💡 Material Nouns

A material noun names the raw substance or matter that something is made from.
Common material nouns: gold, silver, iron, copper, steel, wood, glass, marble, granite, cotton, wool, silk, rubber, plastic, clay

Important: Material nouns are usually uncountable. You cannot say “two wools”.
Exception: When it refers to a specific product, it becomes countable → a glass (drinking vessel) • an iron (appliance)
