Mission 1 / 8⭐ 0About these sentence games
These free sentence games teach simple, compound and complex sentences by doing. Sentence Station has eight levels, from finding the subject and the verb to sorting compound-complex sentences, and every level is open from the start. Every right answer shows the sentence as a train: the independent clause is the engine, the dependent clause is the carriage and the conjunction joins them. Sentence Garden is a word-building game. Word flowers drift past, you pick a subject and a verb part, and the garden grows the words that fit what you are building. Race the clock, or follow the order cards to make each sentence type. In Word Explorer you drive a little wagon around a map, collect nouns, verbs, phrases and conjunctions, and put them in order to complete each mission. Children win coins, stars, badges and a printable certificate that lists what they can now do.

How do I play Word Explorer?
Drive the little wagon around the map with the arrow buttons, the arrow keys, or by tapping a square. Each word you drive over goes into your bag. The mission card shows what to collect. Then tap the words in your bag in the right order to build the sentence, and tap Check.
How do I play Sentence Garden?
Word groups grow on flowers that drift past. Tap them in order to build a sentence in your basket strip, then tap Check. Yellow flowers are subjects, pink flowers are verb parts, and the honey pots and butterflies hold joining words (conjunctions).
Can my sentences be silly, or must they make sense?
Both are allowed. Any subject can go with any verb part, so The school bus baked a huge cake. is correct grammar even though it is funny. After you pick a subject, the garden also grows verb parts that make sense with it, and a sentence that makes sense wins bonus points. Two subjects joined by and, such as Grandma and Zara baked a huge cake., are accepted too: that is still one clause, so it is a simple sentence.
Are all the levels open?
Yes. Every level of Sentence Station is open from the start, so you can go straight to the topic you need. Level 1 is the easiest and Level 8 the hardest.
